What To Expect While Nursing And How Breastfeeding Friendly Tops Help?

The very first thing a mother does after giving birth to her child is to breastfeed. You are bound to face at least some difficulties during the whole first year of your child while breastfeeding. This is where breastfeeding-friendly tops come to aid.

The First Few Days

In the beginning, you won’t produce too much milk right away. While it won’t be much, it is full of essential nutrients and antibiotic properties that are crucial to building a newborn's immune system. This is also the time when you will be staying at the hospital. So, you won’t have much difficulty as the nurses will be there to help you.

Weeks 1-4

After it becomes set into a routine, it is important to nurse or pump as often as possible as this is the time that your body will learn how much you need to produce. If you nurse or pump often, it will be easier for you to nurse in the coming weeks. Your baby will learn more about latching on at this time and become more comfortable with breastfeeding. You can wear simple breastfeeding-friendly tops at home and you won’t have to bother much about removing layers of clothes.

1-3 Months

Within the first few weeks, you’ll be able to learn what positions are most comfortable to breastfeed for both of you. Your milk will come in better over this time and will become in sync about feeding. You will be able to nurse when the baby is hungry and the baby will want to eat when you’ll want to nurse. At this time, feeding on demand is enhances the emotional and physical benefits of breastfeeding and establishing a routine for what you do when you feed will help keep the baby from getting distracted.

4-6 Months

The baby will begin to learn more about the environment around them as vision, hearing, and taste buds develop further and these things can distract during feeding times. You can remedy these disruptions by feeding only in the nursery without stimulation or use a specific toy, song, or show that is special for this time. Also, your baby will begin to feed less around this age and that doesn’t mean they are eating less. Feeding becomes more efficient as they learn and they get the same amount of milk in a shorter time. This is also when you will want to take your baby out to the park. If you do need to nurse when enjoying the park, along with wearing breastfeeding-friendly tops, carry a nursing scarf with you which will help you a lot.

6-12 Months

Around this time is when you’ll begin introducing solid foods and breastmilk will slowly take a backseat to the new additions. Introduce solid foods slowly and continue nursing as you see fit. Teeth will start to come in around this time as well and many moms choose to stop breastfeeding at this stage. Use your own discretion on this matter.

After one year is over you won’t need to nurse at all. But during this year take support from family as much as you want. Wear breastfeeding-friendly tops at home or outside and also don’t forget to wear a nursing bra.
